VMER 3350 - Store Design

Visual Merchandising
This course offers an analysis of current practices, theories and techniques in three-dimensional spatial design, including store design and merchandise presentation. A key objective is to understand physical space along with scale and proportion. Utilizing SketchUp and hand sketching in scale, the coursework deals with developing design concepts that are successful both functionally and aesthetically. A variety of three-dimensional environments, such as a room in a residence, an event space, a gallery installation, a pop-up shop, or a full retail store, are studied and developed. How three-dimensional space and elements within can be featured in social media and digital communication to further convey the concept will be addressed.
