MPSB 608 - Internship in The Business of Fashion

Graduate Division
Students complete the 3-credit internship that corresponds to their major during their final semester. The semester long internship will complement the theoretical knowledge gained in the classroom and enable students to obtain the perspective of a work environment. Students will work part-time in the fashion industry to broaden their skills in an area which will strengthen their abilities for seeking full-time employment upon graduation. The objective of this internship is to give students an opportunity to evaluate, appraise and relate actual internship experience to coursework learned in the classroom. In addition, the student will attend weekly reflection class sessions to discuss internship progress and support their professional development. Upon registering for the course and securing an internship position, the intern must complete an Internship Guidelines and Agreement Form, have it signed by their supervisor, and submit it by attaching it to an internship placement record in Symplicity. All procedures and documents can be found in the EECM Blackboard shell. Students must complete a minimum of 210 hours over the course of the semester and intern for a minimum of three days a week for the duration of the semester. These hours will be documented regularly by the student and verified by their supervisor at the end of the semester. Students must also complete a classroom component of this course and expect corresponding academic coursework related to their internship experience.
