ENGL 1095 - English Composition with EssentialsArts & Sciences English Composition prepares students for the common writing tasks required in college and the profession, including analysis, argument, and research. Students will learn to read critically and adapt the maneuvers of practiced writers to changing rhetorical objectives. Students will also learn to cite research sources according to APA guidelines and to generate original texts in a systematic way: through brainstorming, drafting, peer collaboration, and revision. The class engages with emergent technologies like generative AI to consider how the act of writing is changing and how digital tools might empower critical thinking and assist writers achieve a stated purpose.
