How to Apply for Undergraduate Admission
LIM College accepts applications on a rolling admission basis. Applications will be accepted at any time, until all openings are filled. However, students are encouraged to apply as early as possible. Once all application requirements are met, the Admissions Committee will notify applicants within two to four weeks of its decision.

To be considered for admission, the following must be submitted:
- The completed Application for Admission
- A $40 nonrefundable application fee
- Official transcript from most recent high school attended (high school diploma or equivalent required upon enrollment)
- Official transcript from most recent college attended (transfer students only)
- Students may be evaluated for admission using an unofficial transcript, if an official transcript is not available at the time of decision.
- Interview* (required for Early Action applicants)
* Interviews are required under certain circumstances at the request of the College or granted at the request of the applicant.
LIM Administration including but not limited to the Vice President of Enrollment Services, reserves the right to:
- Waive admission requirements at their discretion.
- Deny admission to any applicant without assigning reason.
- Revoke offers of admissions. (See Admission Decision Rescindment for more information)
- Request additional information from applicants in support of their application.
Additionally, the following may be submitted in support of the application but are not required:
- Resume or activity sheet
- Letter(s) of recommendation
- Standardized test scores
Special Information for Transfer Students
At LIM College, students who have graduated from high school and attended another post-secondary institution are considered transfer students. Each transfer student’s transcript will be evaluated individually. Transfer credits are awarded for grades deemed passable at the transfer institution. Grades from other institutions do not transfer and are not used in the calculation of the student’s grade point average at LIM College. The maximum number of accepted transfer credits that may be applied towards an associate degree is 31. The maximum number of accepted transfer credits that may be applied towards a bachelor’s degree is 85. The number of transferred credits will determine a student’s entering academic level. Students may also receive transfer credits from the following programs upon receipt of an official score report and/or transcript:
- Cambridge International-A & AS Levels
- International Baccalaureate (IB)
- College-Level Examination Program (CLEP)
- Advanced Placement (AP)

International students are required to submit all application materials and required documents in English. International students are also required to provide evidence of English proficiency, through one of the following ways:
- Diagnostic exam of English proficiency (such as TOEFL)*
- Prior academic coursework
- Aptitude exam with a required English language section (such as the SAT)
- English language learning certificate from an LIM College partner language school
- English is a native language of the student’s country of origin.
* Official scores must be less than two years old
All instances that do not fit within these specified criteria will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. After review of the application, the Office of Admissions reserves the right to request additional documentation and/or translation of materials in support of the application. Specific details on proficiency can be found on the LIM College website in the International Admissions section.
U.S. citizens who have completed most of their coursework abroad may be considered international students for admissions purposes.
Applicants who wish to transfer credits from colleges or universities located outside of the United States must have their transcripts evaluated by an approved independent foreign credentials evaluation agency. The type of evaluation selected must be “course-by-course.” LIM College accepts evaluations from a NACES-approved agency, including but not limited to World Education Services, Inc., and AACRAO’s Foreign Education Service. This must be done, even if the transcript is in English.
Acceptance and Enrollment at LIM College
Official notification of an offer of admission can only be made by an Admissions Office administrator. An email will be sent to the student from the Admissions department that includes official notification of acceptance.
A letter or email from a faculty member, student, or staff member outside the Admissions Office does not constitute an official offer of admission. Official notification will not be communicated via social media or telephone.
Upon acceptance to our on-campus degree programs, to be considered an enrolled student at LIM College, each student is required to submit a $400 enrollment deposit and a Tuition Agreement Form. For students entering in the fall, the $400 deposit is fully refundable until April 30. From May 1 through July 31, 50% of the deposit will be refunded; after July 31 the deposit is non-refundable. For students entering in the spring, the deposit is fully refundable until December 15; after that date it is non-refundable. Students must request their refund in writing. Students who defer their enrollment will have their enrollment deposit reapplied to their entry semester and it becomes non-refundable.
Students who enroll in our online degree program must have access to a dedicated computer with high speed, broadband or DSL internet connection. All enrolled students at LIM College are responsible for tuition and fees (as well as the costs associated with any LIM College-sponsored events in which the student participates). These fees are charged each term in which the student is enrolled.
All high school students and non-degree holding transfer students are required to submit proof of high school graduation. In addition, on-campus students must provide immunization and proof of COVID-19 vaccination records prior to attending classes. LIM College will verify proof of graduation of enrolled students from unfamiliar high schools, to verify the high school is approved to grant diplomas. “Unfamiliar” is defined as any high school from which the LIM College Undergraduate Admissions Office has not previously received a high school transcript.

Standardized Test Optional Policy
LIM College has a test optional policy for admission, which means you can decide whether to submit your SAT or ACT scores. If you choose to submit, scores can be used to support your admission application and/or they can be used to evaluate academic placement should you decide to enroll at LIM.* When you complete your admissions application you may indicate if and how you would like us to use the score(s) by choosing one of the following options:
- I will submit test scores and want them reviewed with my application materials.
- I will send or have sent test scores but do not want them reviewed with my application materials.
- I will not submit scores.
*Students who choose to enroll but do not provide test scores will be asked to complete a placement exam prior to registration of first semester enrolled at LIM College. The placement exam allows us to assess your academic skill level and determine if you need additional preparatory work in English or Math. Students who submit standardized scores may also opt to take the placement exam.
**Students accepted into the Fashion Scholars program are qualified out of developmental education course work.
High School Transcript* Application Instructions
Submission of a high school transcript* from the last school attended is an application requirement. If a student attended more than one high school, grades from each high school must be listed on the transcript; or a transcript from each high school may be requested.
*A high school transcript is defined as: high school transcript, homeschool transcript, World Education Services (WES) evaluation, AACRAO’s Foreign Education Service, or other NACES-approved agencies, or state-issued certificate that high school equivalency has been met (for students who have no school records).
Submission of Official Documents
Official transcripts and other proof of graduation documents may be delivered by mail, email or through a third-party service, such as Naviance or Parchment. To be considered official, documents must come directly from the issuing institution or third-party service. Official documents should bear an official stamp or official wet or electronic signature. LIM College reserves the right to approve other third-party servicers.
Proof of High School Graduation Policy
Any first-time freshman or non-degree holding transfer student who applies and consequently enrolls in the undergraduate program at LIM College is required to show proof of High School graduation. In addition, graduate students must provide proof of college graduation (an earned bachelor’s degree or its equivalent).
Proof of graduation is identified as one of the following:
- A final official High School transcript received sealed with a graduation date and may contain a signature or seal (may be raised or not raised)
- An official diploma which LIM College personnel photocopy
- State General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
- Test Assessing Secondary Completion (TASC, HiSet™) or equivalent as assessed by the Department of Education
- Secondary education documents or email from school or school official in-home country that illustrate equivalency has been met
- Home school documents in accordance with the guidelines in the state where the student resides
- Digital proof of graduation received via email from a school official, or through an approved third-party vendor
- LIM College will accept an unofficial copy of your documentation for your first semester. A final official copy of the documentation must be received prior to registering for your second semester of study. In addition, a final official copy of the documentation must be received by the end of the add/drop period of the students entering term to receive financial aid. Verification Policy for Non-degree Holding Applicants
LIM College will verify proof of graduation from unfamiliar high schools provided by the enrolled student to verify the High School is approved to grant diplomas.1 High Schools which the Undergraduate Admissions Office is unfamiliar with will be researched to determine if they are public or private. The verification process will then proceed in the following way:
- If the high school is public it will be confirmed that the high school is registered with their state education department.
- If the high school is private the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) website will first be consulted. If the high school is not registered with NCES the state education department website will be checked for the school’s registration. If the information cannot be obtained from the State Education Department’s website the College will contact the State Education Department via telephone.
- The US Department of Education resources for known Diploma Mills will be consulted to assure the high school is NOT considered a Diploma Mill.
- If the high school cannot be found on the NCES website or the state is unable to comment on the high school’s status, the school will be contacted to confirm which nationally recognized accrediting body accredits them2.

Admission Decision Rescindment
LIM College reserves the right to rescind the admission of any student for the following reasons:
- The student does not provide final official proof of high school graduation.
- The student self-reports a GPA that differs from their official transcript(s).
- Different information is provided on the college application and the FAFSA and cannot be reconciled.
- The high school attended is not approved to grant diplomas in the state in which it resides.
- The US Department of Education does not recognize the high school as a diploma granting entity.
- The high school has been identified as a known Diploma Mill.
- There is evidence of an omission or dishonest statement on the college application
The passing score is 500 for each TASC test subject area with the additional requirement to score at least 2 out of 8 on the Writing prompt to pass Writing. Students pass the TASC test overall when they have passed each of the 5 subject area tests.

*New York State residents who attended an online institution will be considered for Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) eligibility only if their institution is recognized and approved to offer high school diplomas in the state in which they operate or the student has a state-issued certificate of high school equivalency.
